FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
-
How are the chickens fed?Our chickens are pasture-raised. This provides space for them to express their natural foraging instincts and allows the vast majority of their omnivore diet to come from their surroundings. A small percentage of their diet also consists of locally-sourced feed.
-
Can I bring my own chickens and have Lost Creek Farm process and package them for me?Absolutely! We are excited to offer this service for those of you who might be comfortable with reaising meat births but not necessarily ready to process them yourself. Chickens raised off-site and brought by clients for processing and packaging must be dropped off 48 hours prior to scheduled processing date and may be picked up at the customer's location of choice.
-
What type of poultry do you raise? After many hours of research, we decided on the New Hampshire Red as our chicken of choice. The New Hampshire Red is an American heritage breed originating from- you guessed it!- New Hampshire. They are considered to be very rare, and are well known for their gentle temperament, quick growth, and delicious meat. We will also have turkey available once a year for the holiday season.

How do I purchase? While all chickens are available to purchase and take home to begin or add to your own flock, we are also happy to offer processed and packaged whole chickens and as separate poultry cuts. We typically have 50 chickens for available each month. Chicken will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis as pre-order up to 5 days prior to the scheduled processing date. It is the buyer's responsibility to choose the pick up location, date, and time most convenient for them. If no pick up location is specified, the pick up location for your purchase will default to our farm.
